Replacing a photo

We don't allow for photos to be replaced. To replace a photo please remove it and add the new version.
A photo is attached to many votes and information. Allowing for photos to be replaced would enable ill advised members to misuse the functionality.

I have removed the photo completely and tried to put another one with the same name instead but the system is reporting that the photo is already there.I also have the thumbnail with "DELETED" in the photostream which seems strange.
As a sample you can take Brukenthal museum from Sibiu.

You can't upload the same photo twice. We create an ID for each photo. Even if you delete the photo, we remember the ID so it can't be added again.

It would be very good to have a replace feature (just like it exists on Flickr). In my case, I would like replace all the photos that I have already uploaded (more than 800) and which are too small to comply with the future size standards. Any chances that this will be made available soon?
Of course I can also delete my photos and reload them at a larger size....
The answer could be to allow photos to be replaced, but have the votes reset, whilst preserving the other information, e.g. article name, description, etc.
That would make life much easier, if someone needs to replace many photos.
Well, in the meantime I deleted all of my photos (it took me nearly a whole day to do so) and I have now started to reload them at a higher resolution.
Hello, Am confused by the importing of images from Flickr - is it not possible to refresh images linked to Flickr in order to 'reimport' at higher resolution [some of my older Flickr images are at lower resolution than I would like for this use, so I would like to 'replace' them with the higher quality replacements now in my Flickr account].

Unfortunately it is not possible to replace a photo today. The only way is to delete the photo and add it the new version from Flickr.
When a photo is added from Flickr we add it in the state it is and with the information associated to the photo at the time of the import. The photos are not synchronized, changes in Flickr or Fotopedia after the import will only be available in Flickr or Fotopedia.
