1355 Change of policy
I have been a member of "F" for some time and have recently uploaded a photo to the site under Bengal Tiger. I received notice of your removing the photo for various reasons. I read the reasons and can concur with some such as dimension and format. However I do not agree with others including Watermark. A photo is a work of art and the artist has the right to sign his work of art. A small signature in the corner is commonly used in art and should be allowed. Watermarks used to advertise or distract from the photo should not be allowed. Digital watermarking such as "digimarc" should be allowed to protect the artist from copyright or commercial use without permission. This type of tagging is not intrusive and in most cases invisible. Framing can enhance a photo or piece of art and should be allowed. If it doesn't look good I'm sure a comment as such by a viewer would entice the artist to remove it. I have had several photos removed from categories and now I know why. I thought it was because some photos had digital enhancing or some other creative touch but nothing to alter the subject. My feeling is that you are gathering a large database of stock photos for your own use or sale and that sucks. Convince me that I am wrong about my concern and consider my comments re. Watermarks and framing.

Sometimes the frame is worth more than the art - says it all.
Hello Dave,
Fotopedia always mentions the author and license of a photo where it is displayed, with a link to your profile. If someone wants to reuse your photos they have a way to find you and contact you. If you want to protect your photos using watermarks you can use invisible watermarks.
To offer the best user experience frames have never been permitted either. To learn more about Fotopedia Quality Guidelines you can check this page.
Finally, Fotopedia is the first collaborative photo encyclopedia, there's nothing to fear, it's a wiki and not a selling photo data base.
Best regards
