Since the launch of Fotopedia, the quality guidelines have mentioned this rule of adding photos larger than 800x533. We haven't had the tools to enforce it until yesterday (Dec 6th) when we removed all small photos. This is part of our efforts to ensure the encyclopedia is of high quality visually and in relevance.
Just as a reminder on sizes: we recommend you add photos over 1920x1080. We have developed apps for iPad (photos need to be larger than 1000 pixels) and iPhone, and must consider that we will possibly develop application on other devices with higher resolutions in the future. If you don't want to have to add your photos again in the future it is best to use 1920x1080.
We will resize any photo you upload to 1920x1080, so you don't need to do the work. You can add a photo in full resolution, the largest size of the photo we will keep is 1920x1080.

All of my photos are sized at 1000 pixels, largely because Panoramio is optimized for that size. It is not practical for me to create images in different sizes for different projects, as the process is way too time consuming for that. I don't care if my photos are never used in the special projects, like heritage and the soon to be released National Parks, but if you are saying my photos risk being deleted from Fotopedia then that's another thing all together. Please tell me that is not going to happen.
Your photos are safe!
Thanks Adrian. I'll sleep better tonight knowing that. :-)
thanks mr. Adrian, I understand why my photos much in the remove
I am willing to send photos in high resolution, but how to ensure their protection?
@Pierre-Yves: we are working to always insure that your photos are safe on Fotopedia and that you always get credit when someone see your photo. For instance, you can't right click on a photo and save it on your computer.
Each day, we receive emails from people and organizations willing to know how to get permission to use photos and we told them to contact the photographer.
However, if you don't want your photos to be exposed on any website, you should not add them, because you can't be sure that someone won't be able to re-use it. This is why I also created a topic to explain you how you can behave if someone used one of your photo illegally.
